Defending champion Tyrrell Hatton shot a 65 to open up a five-shot lead at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on Sunday. Hatton is trying to make it two straight years as tournament champion.
Even a four-birdie streak by France’s Gregory Bourdy on the front nine couldn’t dent the lead. Bourdy shot a 66 and lost a stroke, which should tell you all you need to know about how well Hatton is playing.
No man has ever repeated as Alfred Dunhill champion.
Last year, this event was a fantastic moment for me,” said Hatton. “It’s great to be back and I’m enjoying my first defence.
“Last year was a new experience for me going out leading a tournament and I managed to do a really good job. Made myself very difficult to catch, hopefully I can do that again tomorrow.
“I’ll certainly try my best to do that. That’s all anyone can ever do is try their best and I’ll certainly do that.”
