Jordan Smith Takes Lead at European Open

England’s Jordan Smith, a challenge Tour graduate, recorded five birdies on Saturday to reach 12-under and take a two-stroke lead into the final round of the tournament.

He has a stern test ahead of him in Alex Levy. The tournament’s defending champion trails by two strokes.

England’s Ashley Chesters proved mortal for the first time all tournament on the first hole when he left an 8-foot chip short. He was still in the lad until the back nine, bogeying #9, #16, and #18 to finish at 1-over.

It was the second straight 67 for Smith, who scattered five birdies around the course.

Levy is tied for second with Sweden’s Jens Fahrbring at 10-under. Chesters is one of six players tied for fourth at 4-under.
