FedEx Cup, Race to Dubai Updates – July 18, 2016

Open Championship winner Henrik Stenson vaulted to No. 2 in the latest Race to Dubai standings, putting the first serious pressure on leader Danny Willett since Willett won the Masters in late April.

Stenson has 2.866 million points through 10 events. Willett leads the field with 3.154 million through 15 events. Willett was a non-factor at The Open Championship, finishing tied for 53rd and earning a little more than 25,000 points for his efforts.

Rory McIlroy drops to third although he too gained ground on Willett, up to 2.484 million points. The top 11 players are now above 1 million points, with Sergio Garcia and Tyrrell Hattton joining the club thanks to their performances at the open. Garcia has racked up 1.119 million points in just eight events.

FedEx Cup Standings

Phil Mickelson jumped from 18th to fifth in the FedEx Cup standings thanks to his second-place finish at the Open Championship. Mickelson has 1,498 points. Three players have surpassed the 2,000-point barrier: Dustin Johnson (2,493), Jason Day (2,352), and Adam Scott (2,011).

Jordan Spieth, the 2015 FedEx champion, is fourth with 1,904 points.
