Zach Johnson and Thomas Pieters are the new co-leaders at the 54-hole mark of the WGC-Bridgestone.
Johnson fired a 5-under 65 with Pieters a shot behind him as the event before the PGA Championships gets more and more clear.
Australian Scott Hend jumped into contention with his tournament-best round of 63 to reach 8-under, with world No. 3 Hideki Matsuyama a stroke behind hi at 7-under.
And don’t forget Rory McIlroy, one of three men tied at 6-under in fourth place.
“I felt like I could have got a lot more out of it,” McIlroy said. “I think if I would have walked off today with a 65 or a 66, I would have felt that was a fair reflection of how I played. But only three behind going into tomorrow, I can get off to a fast start and try and put a bit of pressure on the guys up ahead of me.”
