American Russell Henley rose from 117th to 61st in the world with his win at the Shell Houston Open, which also earned him a berth in the Masters this week.
He has risen 67 spots since the end of 2016.
The top six spots remained the same in this week’s Official World Golf Rankings, while Justin Thomas retook seventh and Rickie Fowler eighth as Adam Scott slipped two spots to No. 9.
By finishing ninth at Houston, Spain’s Jon Rahm rose another two places from 14th to 12th. It’s an absolutely amazing rise for a guy who was 137th on December 31, 2016.

Russell Henley jumped from 52nd to 11th in the latest FedEx Cup standings, piling up 834 points in his 11 events, with the win at Houston being his third Top 10 finish of the year. World No. 1 Dustin Johnson still leads the pack with 1,903 points in seven events thanks to his three wins and five top 10 finishes. The top eight players all have at least 1,000 points to date.
Race to Dubai standings
England’s Tommy Fleetwood is the leader of the European Tour’s Race to Dubai standings with 1.609 million points through seven events. Spain’s Jon Rahm, who has risen from 137th to 12th in the world this year, is second with 1.437 million in just two events.
