Garcia, Molinari Hold Dubai Lead Through 36

Spain’s Sergio Garcia and Italy’s Francesco Molinari remain tied for the Dubai lead through two rounds, tied at 9-under.

Both players shot a 5-under 67 on Friday to drop to 9-under for the tournament.  The pair have a 1-stroke lead over Lee Westwood, who raced to the Day One lead with a 66 on Thursday.

Both Garcia and Molinari recorded six birdies against just one bogey.

”I try to enjoy myself as much as possible. Obviously, when you’re playing well, it’s a little easier. It was a good day,” said Garcia.

Formerly known as the best player in the world without a Major win, Garcia is in pursuit of his second win this calendar year after taking the AT&T Byron Nelson on the PGA Tour in August.

He has not won on the European Tour in almost three years, dating back to the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters in January of 2017.

‘Maybe yesterday the start was even better, but (I) played solid pretty much all the round,” Molinari  said. ”I had a little lapse in concentration on the 10th and then recovered well.”

Molinari is also seeking his second win of the year after scoring a victory at the Italian Open in September.
